Isle Abbots, Somerset - Change of Use from Barn to 5 Bedroom Dwelling with Annex
We were appointed in 2021 to change the use of an existing barn to a 5 bedroom dwelling, maximising the use of the existing building footprint.
Our client’s ambition was to leave a low carbon footprint, achieved by following a fabric-first approach, including airtight, yet breathable, high-performance limecrete floors, walls and roofs, insulated with recycled glass, sheep's wool and wood fibre

The design incorporates thermal massing to regulate internal temperatures and naturally cool the dwelling during the summer months, with high levels of insulation and airtightness to maximise energy efficiency and deliver long-term energy savings.
